Hitting the Walk

Have you hit the pandemic wall? Yep, me too, and how many times have you bounced back?  Sometimes it feels like activity is the only chance to get out at the moment.  Unfortunately you have to find the right time and the less congested routes.  For me it’s up at 5:30 to get on the road by 6am to get to the Gloucester canal before the everyone heads out.

A year into the pandemic and it might feel like you’re at mile 26 of a marathon. While everyone is experiencing different challenges, we think we can all agree that it’s tiring and hard. The heady days of our commitment to living room yoga and daily 5Ks feel behind us. We’re watching more TV, scrolling social media more often. And it doesn’t feel good.

So we’ve decided we’re done waiting to feel better and have started a couch to 5km programme as part of committing to making a change. Already with 2 runs behind us the group are starting to find their feet, and with week one you only run for a total of eight minutes.  Using the couch to 5km as a framework we are also offering a safe space for members to join and talk as part of the recovery from the long lockdown.  You can talk about anything but most of all it is providing a social network and meeting up with like minded runners no matter what your ability is or how fast you can run, does not matter.  We have something for everyone.  If you are interested down load the myCrew app or click on this link https://get.mycrew.com/2joR9mwpbfb  We meet Tuesday and Thursdays at 5pm at Sanger House, Brockworth Business Park, Gloucester the headquarters of Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, parking available if needed and meet at the front of the building.
