Are you in that wonderful age zone 50+ or way beyond? Most running training plans do not consider the age difference and that is why we have developed our plan to get fit without killing yourself in the process or burning out at the first hurdle.
The fact that we're
already getting slower as we age and not training according to our age,
dramatically adds to our already amplified problem of getting slower year after
year. We are constantly battling some
sort of pain or injury and our endurance fades quickly. It's the
number one reason why we get slower even though it feels like we are training
harder and harder each day. Now, what if
I told you that we could lay these reasons holding you back from reaching your
peak performance? What if you could adapt your training in such a
way that you get faster and run even better than you used to a few years
ago? or even maintain your speed as you age?
Nigel is a member of our running crew and this month he celebrates his 70th Birthday. He runs with us on Monday and Wednesday mornings completing a steady 10+km. But let’s look where he started? Yes, it was at the beginning with the couch to 30-minute programme. His determination since graduating, has seen him complete the 2021 Cheltenham running festival, the Seven Sins and Race for Life to name a few. This month he is taking part in the 2022 Forest Half Marathon. So, when you think you are too old to start, think about age as not a barrier but another reason to stay fit and healthy.
I’m about to hit 59
this year and might not be fast, but I can certainly run a steady
10km. I may not look like a runner; however, I am fit and provide
support to other runners trying to achieve their dreams. Sounds too good to be true. Well
here is the opportunity to find out for yourself by joining us and working
towards sustainability with your running and staying injury free. Taster sessions are available if you want to
try and plenty f support is in place to support you through your running
journey. If you are tempted, or fancy
joining our activities, we will take you from a couch to get you running 30-minutes
nonstop. Once you have achieved this comfortably, we will support
you move from time to achieve a distance run by completing a 5km. Throughout the programme we will work on
building your stamina to maintain a comfortable run and hopefully fall in love
with your new activity. Once you get to this place, we can also help
you achieve a 10km run nice and easy. To realise this achievement,
you must enjoy the training and of course the banter that goes with it.
