Sara started running in 2002 to help her cope with
the demands of having two young boys and working as a health visitor. Her first
5K was the Race for Life at Cheltenham racecourse, and she still remembers the
sense of achievement she felt at being able to run 3.1 miles without stopping.
By then Sara had the bug and went on to run 10Km’s and then did the Great
North Run in 2004, which was amazing. She has done lots of half marathons over
the years and still find them a really enjoyable challenge, including the 2
marathons she run, Edinburgh in 2009 and following the loss of her husband in
2016, Sara wanted to raise money for Maggies who had been a great support to
them. In 2019 she ran the London Marathon and raised over £4000 for the
charity. Sara has been a member of Angels Running Club since 2013 and
loves the camaraderie and being part of the running community. She is a
qualified LiRF and enjoys helping others to find the same joy in running. In
her day job Sara is a Specialist Nurse for safeguarding children.
