Health&Hustle Round Up

Fitness Tips: Stay Healthy, Manage Stress

For this weeks blog I thought I would put a few tips together about staying active and fit, however it’s what suits you that counts.  For the biggest benefits of exercise, try to include at least 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity such as brisk walking or jogging.  By raising your heart rate and experiencing working out in the cardio zone will see your resting heart rate reduce to a good healthy level

Try daily 30 minutes jogging, walking, biking, or dance three to five times a week.  Set small daily goals and aim for daily consistency rather than perfect workouts. It's better to walk every day for 15-20 minutes than to wait until the weekend for a three-hour fitness marathon. Find forms of exercise that are fun or enjoyable. Some people often like classes and group activities. People who are more introverted often prefer solo pursuits.  Distract yourself with a portable media player to download audiobooks, podcasts, or music. Many people find it’s more fun to exercise while listening to something they enjoy.  I listen to a mixture of Radio Gloucestershire or heart radio and take part in the little challenges, which keeps me entertained on the longer runs.  Workout with an “exercise buddy.” It's often easier to stick to your exercise routine when you have to stay committed to a friend, partner, or colleague.  Be patient when you start a new exercise program. Most sedentary people require about four to eight weeks to feel coordinated and sufficiently in shape so that exercise feels easier.

Results or excuses... You choose.... Stay motivated, if you can’t stay motivated then stay disciplined.  Strong mind, Strong body, Strong heart

In the news this Month

It’s still really busy with the Health&Hustle as we finish 2020.  On Friday we were on Radio Gloucestershire being interviewed by Steve Kitchen talking about our challenges and the work we are doing to make a difference in the community. If you want to listen to the interview click here and go to 2 hours 41 seconds https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08zbm3x

The 1000miles challenge for Hope for Tomorrow is still going well and we are starting to see challengers crossing the finish line after 5 months.  To date we have raised over £10,000 for the charity with a further 7 months to go.  What’s next? Keep watch out for more updates.  To donate to the challenge please visit this link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/h4t1000miles

It’s been really humbling to a lot of our Hustle members taking part in the December Daily Dash for Sue Ryder.  5km a day for 31 days is a great challenge to stay active through December.  Being involved in the challenge has seen advent calendar’s delivered along with dash beanie’s.  Sue Ryder are really pushing out the Christmas spirit with this challenge, so if you want to make a donation please click here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/healthandhustle?_ga=2.246399300.1942982925.1599677633-1031473586.1599677633
