Couch to 30 Minutes in Nine Weeks

Welcome to the Couch to 30 minutes programme and week 1 run 1 #C30MW1R1

This programme follows the couch to 5km Programme but does not concentrate on distance but the time of each run.  The idea is to complete 30 minutes of non stop activity.

The first activity is as follows:

  • Start with a 5-minute warm up walk – Chance to chat and concentrate on breathing
  • Run for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds, this will be for eight reps and I will coach you through the techniques to help you.
  • Warm down walk for 5 Minutes

Now this is the fun part, you will walk the remainder distance on all the runs to get used to the 5km distance. Plenty of time to recover and chat.

We will be using two apps. Strava to measure the distance of the activity and the OneYou app that sets the interval times which will be on loudspeaker throughout the run.

If you are on strava lets connect and you can be tagged in to each activity that we complete as a group. Throughout the course we will take photos to record your achievements and publish them as a group, please bring your best smile. We will publish our events and photos on Twitter, Facebook and the Fitbit app page.

What do I need to bring? bring a bottle of water for days when it is hot, we still run in the rain and the main rules are, “If you are there, you are there, If you are not, you are not” we find some members can’t make all the runs but we are flexible, however the programme does not stop so you may need to do a catch in your own time to keep with the programme.

There is plenty of parking at Sanger House and but can everyone attending park at the rear of the building and meet outside reception.
