Health&Hustle H4T1000 Miles Completed

Hope for Tomorrow 1000 miles challengeClearing your head and getting the space to think through work or normal day to day life and upcoming events, It’s amazing how your mind can drift and the memories made this year navigating through Gloucester.  Thinking back to last year when I sat down with Nikki Budding from Hope for Tomorrow to plan the 1000mile challenge, I can’t believe how successful this event has been.  We have formed a community of like minded people who took on the challenge for various reasons and I am touched at some of the inspirational journeys completed.  Now the challenge is over it’s time to celebrate everyone’s successes no matter if you have made the 1000miles or just fell short.  It’s been a really tough year for everyone taking part and for various reasons some have really excelled completing the challenge in record time and raising over £30,000 along the route.  We also need to acknowledge all the support along the journey and say a big thanks to Nicky Price from BBC Radio Gloucestershire for joining us and promoting our challenge as part of making a difference.

So what’s next? As part of the celebration of this challenge we have launched a similar challenge starting in September click here for the link to the One Step at a Time Challenge https://hopefortomorrow.org.uk/one-step-at-a-time/

This challenge has something for everyone based on what we have learnt through the previous challenge.  If you need motivation to get active this could be the challenge for you.

The real buzz missing this year is the opportunity to take part in live events such as the Cheltenham Challenge.  Due to the extension of relaxing the Covid measures we have had to do this virtually, however we finally got a taste of a live event taking on the Gloucester 10k, which was fun and a few from the hustle took part.  With September only a couple of months away, we will be able to all meet up and take part in the Cheltenham half/10k for Sue Ryder, however, my year will end doing the Sue Ryder December Daily Dash 21 completing 5k a day for 31 days.

Looking forward as we come out of the pandemic and into 2022, we can look forward to getting back to some form of normality and hopefully seeing most live events starting up again.  Keep active, stay safe and thanks for all your support.
