This weeks hustle news

In the news this week at Hustle HQ

It’s been another busy week with activities and the good news is that we have now completed the first run of week2 of the couch to 5km programme.  Let’s hope the weather is kinder going forward.  I have had notification from the crew who couldn’t make the activities that they are still keeping up with their progress.  Really pleased to hear that Helen Garwood has been out and ran non stop for 30 minutes, this is a massive achievement for Helen.

Health&Hustle was invited by Hope for Tomorrow to the Fig offices in Gloucester for a breakfast presentation about our health and wellbeing in the workplace. On social media the event was described as a Great Networking breakfast this morning at Fig Offices in partnership with Nikki Budding and her charity Hope for tomorrow. An inspirational speech by Kevin Gannaway-Pitts about his journey back to health and his health & hustle campaign to get everyone fit.

Physical activity how much should I do?
Physical Activity is any movement of your body that uses energy and the good news is that it doesn’t have to involve a formal exercise programme or sport.  Two types of exercise are key: daily moderate intensity aerobic exercise (this works your heart & lungs, making you slightly breathless), and strength exercise for your major muscle groups.

The World Health Organisation reported that globally ¼ of adults are classed as inactive.  A report by the British Heart Foundation (2015) stated that only 67% of British Adults achieve the minimum Physical Activity Guidelines.  Studies indicate that  being slightly over-weight but fit is actually slightly more protective than being underweight but fit, or unfit independent of your weight.
