Get Active for 2020

The success of the hustle has seen many staff follow some simple steps and have succeeded to go onto greater things with 10k, half marathons and full marathons.  How many excuses can you make to avoid activity?  It’s never to late to start and it’s down to the individual to make that commitment to succeed.  The best advice for getting in shape for 2020 is to first find an activity you will enjoy.

Start with a mild activity and build to improve each week.

Set small active goals that are realistic and achievable.

Try and schedule your activity into your weekly schedule to balance your work life balance.

Train or get active with a friend, walking/running buddy or group

Look after yourself during activity and be safe.

So what about the time you spend in the workplace? Routine and breaks is imperative and staff should take regular activity breaks from their workstation, For example, taking the stairs instead of the lifts or introducing five-minute activity breaks could encompass getting a drink of water. However, these may only amount to small increases in your total energy expenditure. Research shows that workplaces that support physical activity improve employee productivity and morale. In addition, a physically active workplace is likely to cut down on sickness and stress levels in the workplace.
