Week 5 of the COVID Lockdown

How do you shed negative energy through the lockdown period?

There are lots of programmes suitable for every level to keep you active at home.  YouTube, Twitter and a number of host platforms are giving the opportunity to take part in challenges or daily workouts.  The Fitbit challenges are still popular and numbers are still steady in all the challenges we have set up.  In particular our front line staff are keeping very active, whether that is on the wards or after work, I am seeing some phenomenal steps.  The running group is still very active and the WhatsApp group is full of chatter and praise for everyone in the group.  The good thing with all our social media channels is that everyone is still talking to each other and encouraging or celebrating successes no matter how small the achievements are.

As well as the challenges, a number have been taking part in the virtual NHS challenge 2020 raising funds for the NHS charities.  You do what you can and submit your mileage to earn the NHS medal.  How many of us have been inspired by Captain Tom? What an achievement and contribution this former soldier has made to the NHS.  I also follow on Twitter Glen Haughton who is one of the Senior Warrant Officers of the Army, Glen is promoting mental health awareness and is really inspiring mixing the importance of exercise and the benefits this has with managing your mental health.  Worth a follow along with Dame Kelly Holmes.

There are lots of friendly challenges on Facebook and one in particular is the tagging of running pictures.  I saw a blast from the past and Agent SaLT winning the best picture with her shirt title WTF “Where’s the Finish” lots of tagging going on with members of the hustle from back in the day.

Watch this space? Work behind the scenes have been progressing with Hope for Tomorrow and the 1,000 mile challenge scheduled to start in July.  The designs for the medals and t-shirts are completed and this promises to be the biggest challenge that the Health&Hustle has organised with this years charity of choice.  We have a few more steps to go and will be launching end of April early May to book your place.

June marks our 4th year anniversary and even though we cannot celebrate at the Cheltenham Challenge, we will organise a gathering at a Park-run once the lockdown is lifted to celebrate another successful year.
